New Building: Week 18 - Taking in the views

The ceiling has been put in on the first floor bedrooms.

Here is a view standing inside one of the new rooms.

New Building: Week 17 - Digging Holes and Climbing Ladders

On the top floor of the Parish centre, in the corner of the future library, there is a hole.

Here's what you'd see if you were to look down it:

You can see all the way down to the ground floor, and beyond:

This hole is the lift shaft, which will provide access to the library and to the accommodation block.

In the next picture, you will see a now familiar view of the former site of the staircase. If we climb that ladder...

...we come to a new doorway...

...and bedrooms 1 and 2 of the new building. The concrete blocks are at their full height...

...we're just waiting for the bricks to catch up on the outside!

New Building: Week 16 - First floor

New Building: Week 15 - Going up!

New Building: Week 14 - Ceiling

The new building has now reached the first floor!

Here is the ceiling of the new parish office, bar and kitchen on the ground floor:

Fr Daniel has been to inspect the site. Here he is standing in the new office:

Fr Dominic has been checking up on things too!

The steels have been put in the ground floor ceiling of the old parish centre — they will take the weight of the books in the new library.

And finally, the boiler house walls are slowly rising.

New Building: Week 12 - Parish Office

Above you can see the outer wall of the new Parish office. The wooden frames show where the window and door will be.

The window in this wall is very important — it will light the bar!

And the spaces have been made ready for the steel bars that will support the weight of the new library. The steel bars will arrive soon.
