How to support the campaign

There are many ways to support the campaign, some more obvious than others.

Firstly, it helps if you send us money.  Cheques simply to "Oxford Oratory Appeal".  Quite easy, really.
Many supporters have made out bankers' orders with pledges to pay a certain amount at regular intervals (week, month, quarter, year) over a period of five years.  This enables us to plan ahead, and predict how much will come in each year.  Others, who are unable to predict their own finances, make one-off payments when and as they can.  This can be in bundles of used notes - indeed, if they abolish cheques, that will probably become the most usual method.  In either case, if people sign a "Gift-Aid" form it makes a big difference, as it incrases the value of the gift by 22%.  (For ease of accounting, please sign a specific form for the Campaign, even if you have already signed one for the Parish or the Oratory.)

Incidentally, the same applies to any donations - it makes accounting much easier if you use the appropriate route for the appropriate fund, Oratory, Parish, or Appeal.  It's all one Charitable Trust, but we try to keep compartiments watertight.   The JustGiving facility is explicitly set up for our Appeal.

Informed and computer-literate viewers have other options, using the "buttons" on this page.  The "JustGiving" site brings in a steady income from largely anonymous donors - to whom many thanks.  This will take contributions from "Paypal" as well as the usual debit or credit cards.  If you are eligable for "GiftAid" we get the entire amount you specify - though the "JustGiving" people take their commission from the tax returned.  But if you are not eligible for GiftAid, we will get rather less - which means if you use JustGiving for example for dinner tickets or other purchases, you will need to add at least 7.3% to your payment.

Those who live over the water may prefer to use the "American Fund for Charities", for which you follow the appropriate "button".  Our code is AFC 815.     They give you the tax benefit, and pass on your donation (less commission)  to us.  This takes several months, and we will not know it has arrived until then, so if you do not get a quick acknowledgment from us, that's why.
Of course, if you are really computer-minded, you can transfer money directly into our account from your bank.  This saves you and us the charges they now levy for cheques.     From overseas this is the quickest method - it  can be done out of any currency.  For this you need the bank details:  here they are!  (Note that what our bank calls IBAN is what in America is known as a "Swift Code")   The bank does take a small handling charge.   British donations can only be eligible for tax relief if you also give us a signed "Gift-Aid" form, which we can cross-reference to your donation as soon as we see it on our bank statements.

Secondly, you can think of an original, dramatic and very effective method of raising money that no one has ever thought of before.   Already our supporters have come up with many interesting and original suggestions for fundraising, which have produced some surprising results.  New ideas welcome.   But do make sure that the effort involved and the costs involved do generate a proportionate income!
