- The new Archbishop of Birmingham:
- The Most Reverend Bernard Longley
Fra Matthew Festing with other members of the Order. He writes:
"I am delighted to be a Patron of the Renewal and Reaffirmation Campaign. The realisation of Blessed John Henry Newman's vision for an Oratory in Oxford has brought immense blessings not only to the City and the University but to Catholic England as a whole. If these blessings are to continue, the Fathers must have the space to welcome the novices of the future and the means to develop and enhance their distinctibve Oratorian missions. I urge you all to support the Campaign."
- The Chancellor of the University of Oxford:
- Rt. Hon Christopher Patton, PC
- The heads of the Catholic Private Halls in Oxford:
- Dom Felix Stephens OSB, St Benet's Hall
- Fr Brendan Callaghan SJ, Campion Hall
- Fr Richard Finn, OP, Blackfriars
- and Fr Mark Elvins, OFM Cap, late Warden of Greyfriars.
- HRH the Duchess of Kent
There are also many supporters and helpers, including an executive committee chaired by the Very Rev the Provost of the Oxford Oratory, and nearly a hundred volunteers whose aim is to introduce new people to the Oxford Oratory and encourage them to support the appeal, by their own donations but also through grant-giving trusts.
So how can you help?
Obviously, the first need is money - which we are raising in a well-coordinated programme. If you would like to be involved, contact us directly for invitation to an Information Function, at which we will show you in greater detail what we are planning, and explain why we need it. Many individuals have already given generously, or pledged regular gifts over a five-year plan. Others have volunteered to make new contacts for us, and to bring them along to see us. Others have useful contacts with grant-giving trusts. For all of these possibilities, contact the Director of Fundraising, Oxford Oratory, 25 Woodstock Road OX2, 6HA, or campaign@oxfordoratory.org.uk
Alternatively you could use one of the payment possibilities in the column on your right, "JustGiving", or the American Fund for Charities, which gives you the US tax benefits. We also have dollar and euro accounts. Checks or cheques to "Oxford Oratory Trust, Appeal Account".
Benefits of being a Benefactor
Virtue is its own reward, but all benefactors will be commemorated in a book kept on display, and major donors will get special recognition. More importantly, all benefactors, living and dead, are remembered at Mass in the Oratory Church every week.
